Server Support

We offer a full support package for your servers. We make regular, scheduled visits as well as maintaining the system remotely. We can look after Windows based servers and Linux based ones, running services such as email, File & Print, and other services. If we think it is insecure, we will tell you. if we think it needs upgrading, we will tell you ahead of time. If we think your backup system is not up to the job, hardware or procedural, we will tell you.

Servers are often the only machine on a network to be exposed to the Internet. Most firewalls cannot protect a deliberatly opened connection from exploitation. Some will warn you that there is strange code being transmitted, but no more than that. It is very important that these servers are regularly updated and in the case of some network operating systems, this often also means rebooting the server, which cannot be done during the day.

Supporting Role offers remote administration for your server so that we can work out of hours without needing physical access to your premises. In addition we will regularly check the log files for advanced warnings of any impending problems.

We trained hard, but just as we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be reorganised. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganising, and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while creating inefficiency and demoralisation.
